communications projects

I have coordinated several projects that involve the production of written and audiovisual content and development of strategies to amplify the reach of that content. I have also built systematic communications programs within internal institutional structures that allow for a steady production and generation of new content.

1. digital campaigns

A warehouse through the eyes of a child

For World Children's Day 2020 I led the digital campaign for UNICEF Supply Division to help increase web presence for this area of UNICEF's work. To keep in line with UNICEF's global theme, "Kids takeover," I developed a script and managed the production of the film: The world's largest humanitarian warehouse through the eyes of a child. I also organized the "Blue warehouse lighting" event where staff and children came to the warehouse to take part in a film celebrating the countdown to World Children's Day. Some content includes:

Bringing an innovation to scale

To help bring this new UNICEF product to scale, I developed and managed a communications campaign for the disability-friendly latrine. By building a set of communications resources, including a web story, web page, film script, and social media audio-visual resource package, as well as working with a video company to produce a mini documentary film, efforts led to over 120,000 views via different social media platforms. Some published content includes:

Some published content includes:

  • Press Release

  • Web Story

  • Web Page

  • 6 min film

raising the profile for oxygen during covid-19

Producing content that led to global coverage

While leading communications for UNICEF Supply Divison's oxygen-focused projects I have helped raise the profile for UNICEF's global response to oxygen needs during the pandemic. I developed several oxygen-related communications materials before the pandemic and then increased the production of content during the pandemic. Efforts have led to large media institutions contacting UNICEF to produce stories on oxygen, including the NY Times, BBC and Guardian. Some published content includes:

2. tools, websites and programs

With UNICEF USA, I spearheaded field visit strategy and built an organizational program – from scratch - to streamline and better coordinate field visits for the organization’s many donors and partners. I coordinated over 70 field visits to more than 30 different countries and supported the organization’s growth to becoming UNICEF’s third largest donor in 2015.  Some visits I organized include:

A few deliverables of the program include:

  • 60-page program manual

  • New digital registration via DocuSign

  • Field visit tracking database synced with the donor funds data base.

  • Post-visit fundraising & advocacy materials

With UNICEF Ethiopia I built an advocacy package of materials for the education program that included project briefs for each sub-program. This included 10 designed project briefs that demonstrated the issue, response, and impact of each project. The resources have been used to inspire staff, partners, and donors to continue supporting and contributing to the projects.

With UNICEF Supply Division I built a communications program for the Product Innovation Centre where I developed base materials to improve efficiency, such as a new website with 17 web pages, 10 new project briefs, a calendar of events, and a guidance manual for developing and amplifying the reach of materials created.
